MVHR Heat Recovery Systems for Irish Homes

MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) supplies filtered fresh air to the living rooms and bedrooms and extracts stale, humid air from the wet rooms, continuously, through one unit and a run of ducting. The heat in the outgoing air is passed to the incoming air, so the house stays ventilated without the heat loss of open windows or trickle vents. It is the right system for airtight homes, new builds and deep retrofits. It is not a quick fix for one damp bathroom; for that see our bathroom fans or MEV units.

Which size? The unit is sized to the floor area and the number of wet rooms, and we confirm it at the survey. As a guide from the nine units below: the HRVS 250T for homes up to about 120 m²; the HRVS 350T, Zehnder ComfoAir Q350 and Vent-Axia Kinetic Advance S for about 210 to 250 m²; the Zehnder ComfoAir Q450 and Vent-Axia Sentinel Econiq M for about 300 m²; the HRVS 500T and Zehnder ComfoAir Q600 for 300 to 350 m²; and the Sentinel Econiq L for larger homes, confirmed at survey.

Installed price. The unit prices below include VAT and are supply only. A complete MVHR installation by VentSolve in Dublin and Leinster costs €5,500 to €6,000 for homes up to 100 m², €6,000 to €7,000 for 100 to 200 m², €7,000 to €8,000 for 200 to 300 m² and €8,000 to €9,500 above that; the written quote states exactly what is included. We provide a 5 year warranty on MVHR units, provided the system is serviced annually by VentSolve throughout the warranty period.

How it works with us. Survey, design, installation, commissioning, then an annual service. There is no standalone SEAI grant for ventilation; it may form part of a wider upgrade through an SEAI One Stop Shop. Read about MVHR installation or book a survey.
